Hey Grendel--assume you knew I was being sarcastic to the sarcastic (I assume too)! But hey, seriously--isn't 77-78 your fav time period? Do I have that wrong? I was thinking of SDH as the 79-82 guy...

For what it's worth, I did see them then--but only a few times in 81...nothing like the number in 77 and 78 that the two of us have spoken of a few times before.

So, hope the health recovery biz is going as well as can be expected for you; I wish it weren't the number one priority of each and everyday I wake up and log on here, but as my old man always said, "it beats the Hell out of the alternative!" (ie, dying, NOT not loggiing on!).

Yes I was being sarcastic. Personally I hated the early organ and could hardly see beyond the quaint toyness until Two from the Vault.

I have a friend that seems afraid to listen after 1977, for fear of being taken over by Jerry's dark passenger I think. I love the Brent years and beyond, even if was formulaic and passionless a third of the time.

Why dismiss a popular period outright and alienate half the fans?

I knew that; was just joking myself...I am sure it gets old to hear about my early era bias, but I don't think I alienate anyone by my biases...at least I hope not; I think even the newbies catch on that my ranting and raving about early era stuff is all in good fun. But of course, you and I would defend anyone's right to defend what they like for whatever reasons they have, given the subjective nature of it all. I certainly have no problem with the folks that only like the 80s, or whatever it might be.

And, I defn hear you about the organ biz early on!

No it wasn't you that seemed to be at the epicenter of the bad trip forum embroil last week.

I was trying to point out, lamely though, the connection of someone who won't listen to newer shows complaining about a forum filled with 80-90s fans.

I'll still listen to newer shows, like 9-12-85 Kaiser just today, and like it. Even though I belated concluded that 68-69 was great and 72-74 are unbeatable, many ballads are as good -- & poignantly aged -- in the 80s-90s as any time.
